Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to make a submission to this journal. All submissions will be assessed by an editor to determine whether they meet the aims and scope of this journal. Those considered to be a good fit will be sent for peer review before determining whether they will be accepted or rejected.

Before making a submission, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any material included with the submission, such as photos, documents and datasets. All authors identified on the submission must consent to be identified as an author. Where appropriate, research should be approved by an appropriate ethics committee in accordance with the legal requirements of the study's country.

An editor may desk reject a submission if it does not meet minimum standards of quality. Before submitting, please ensure that the study design and research argument are structured and articulated properly. The title should be concise and the abstract should be able to stand on its own. This will increase the likelihood of reviewers agreeing to review the paper. When you're satisfied that your submission meets this standard, please follow the checklist below to prepare your submission.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • This submission meets the requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • This submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
  • All tables and figures have been numbered and labeled.
  • Permission has been obtained to publish all photos, datasets and other material provided with this submission.

Articles

Focus and Scope of the Articles - this section is the primary avenue for original, high-quality research that contributes to the scholarly discourse of Ateneo de Zamboanga University and the broader global community.

  1. ​Multidisciplinary Emphasis: AdZU Journal of Diverse Discipline (AJDD) prioritizes submissions that demonstrate interdisciplinary approaches or address issues relevant to the Zamboanga Peninsula and Mindanao context, while maintaining universal scientific rigor. ​
  2. Thematic Breadth: Content ranges from social sciences, humanities, and education to natural sciences, technology, and professional studies, peace and development, environment sustainability, and innovation.
  3. Submission Criteria ​To be considered for the Articles section: manuscripts must posses original data. ​Adhere to a word count of 5,000 to 8,000 words (inclusive of tables and references). ​Be formatted according to the AJDD Author Guidelines (APA 6th or 7th Edition). ​Include a structured abstract and 4–6 keywords.
  4. ​Peer Review Policy: ​All submissions to the Articles section undergo a rigorous Double-Blind Peer Review process:
    1. ​Initial Screening: The Section Editor reviews the manuscript for basic formatting, scope alignment, and plagiarism (via Turnitin). ​
    2. Expert Review: Manuscripts that pass the screening are sent to at least two (2) external reviewers who are experts in the specific discipline. ​
    3. Final Decision: The Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision based on reviewer recommendations (Accept, Revisions Required, Resubmit for Review, or Decline). ​
  5. Open Access & Copyright ​Open Access: All articles are published immediately upon completion of the production process under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial (CC BY-NC 4.0) license.
  6. ​Author Ownership: Authors retain copyright of their work but grant AJDD the "first right of publication." ​
  7. No Fees: Currently, AJDD does not charge Article Processing Charges (APCs) or submission fees, supporting AdZU’s mission of accessible scholarship. 
  8. Publication Frequency ​The Articles section follows the journal’s biannual schedule (e.g., June and December). However, accepted articles may be published "Online First" or in "Early View" prior to the formal issue release to ensure timely dissemination of findings. 
  9. Archiving and Indexing ​Digital Preservation: All published articles are archived in the AdZU Institutional Repository and the PKP Preservation Network (PN). ​Metadata: Section metadata is optimized for harvesting by Google Scholar, Crossref, and DOAJ.
